Microfading
Microfade testing of the UK's oldest globe at Petworth House, National Trust

Microfading is a light-testing method used to measure how sensitive historic materials are to fading. It shines a very small, controlled beam of light onto an object to assess how it may respond to display lighting, without causing visible damage. This helps museums, historic houses, and collections managers make better informed decisions about display, storage, and loan, so that objects can be enjoyed while reducing the risk of long-term light damage.

I offer microfading services using my own equipment (or yours if you have it). I can also help you plan and purchase your own system inclusive of set up and training.
